There is an emergency gillnet closure in effect for the Yukon River Subdistrict 6-B and the Old Minto Area (from eastern edge of the Kantishna River upstream to the Wood River, including Minto and Nenana). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) issued this emergency action due to critically low Chinook (king) salmon returns and concerns for conservation during the peak migration period. This action was taken in coordination with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and USFWS fishery managers.
