There is an emergency gillnet closure in effect for the Yukon River Subdistrict 6-A and the Kantishna River (from the mouth of the Tanana River upstream to the eastern edge of the mouth of the Kantishna River, including the Kantishna River drainage, Lake Minchumina, and Manley). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) issued this emergency action due to critically low Chinook (king) salmon returns and concerns for conservation during the peak migration period. This action was taken in coordination with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and USFWS fishery managers.
