There is an emergency gillnet closure in effect for the Subdistrict 4-BC and Koyukuk River drainage. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) issued this emergency action due to critically low Chinook (king) salmon returns and concerns for conservation during the peak migration period.

Expiration: Thursday, July 16, 2026, 8:00 p.m.
Restrictions for Subdistrict 4-BC and Koyukuk River drainage include:
All gillnets are prohibited and must be removed from the water. The closure applies to all users, including subsistence and non-subsistence fishers.
During the gillnet closure, fishermen may use selective gear such as, dip nets, beach seines, and hook and line gear for pink salmon, sockeye salmon, and nonsalmon species.
