There is an emergency gillnet closure in effect for the Yukon River Subdistrict 4-A Upper. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) issued this emergency action due to critically low Chinook (king) salmon returns and concerns for conservation during the peak migration period.

Effective: Saturday, June 27, 2026, 8:00 p.m.
Expiration: Tuesday, July 14, 2026, 8:00 p.m.
Restrictions for Subdistrict 4-A Upper include:
All gillnets are prohibited and must be removed from the water. The closure applies to all users, including subsistence and non-subsistence fishers.
During the gillnet closure, fishermen may use selective gear such as, dip nets, beach seines, and hook and line gear for pink salmon, sockeye salmon, and nonsalmon species.
