Trouble at Sea is a new documentary examining Alaska’s salmon future and the growing influence of hatchery production. Despite having the richest remaining wild salmon runs on Earth, Alaska now leads the world in salmon hatchery output. Emerging evidence shows that hatcheries—once seen as a solution to low fish returns—may be contributing to an ocean-wide problem. The film explores these ecological ripple effects and asks Alaskans to have difficult conversations about our changing ocean resources.
