Esther was raised in Toghotthele (Nenana) and now lives in Fairbanks. Her family comes from Tsee Duu (Beaver) in the Yukon Flats and Nuniaq (Old Harbor) on Kodiak Island. Esther’s late father, Matt O’Brien Jr taught her the values and traditions of our traditional lifestyle. Memories of fish camp spent with family ground her work today. She looks forward to protecting subsistence practices and honoring our future generations.
